WashPost Cheers Biden’s ‘Low Key’ Response To Texas Storm

PA Pundits International

By P.J. Gladnick ~

Democracy dies in a low key response?

What happens if a president does not do much to aid citizens in the middle of a weather disaster? Well, if the president is a Republican, the media condemnation would be loud and angry. But if the President is a Democrat, the reaction would be…meh. Such was the case with the Washington Post on Saturday running cover for Joe Biden over the fact that his response to the Texas winter storm has been rather underwhelming.

According to the Post, starting with the title, the biggest risk isn’t so much for the underserved people of Texas but for the political future of Biden, “Biden’s low-key approach to storm wins praise but courts risks.”

As the Biden administration faces its first natural disaster, the president himself is taking a notably low-key approach. He has not visited the stricken region or…

New York Times Turns Vital School Re-Openings Into Cynical Republican ‘Seizure’

PA Pundits International

By Clay Waters ~

The New York Times included in its Saturday coverage of the school re-opening debate a story by congressional reporter Carl Hulse: “Republicans Seize on Shuttered Schools as a Political Rallying Cry.”

Does “seize” sound familiar? Democrats rarely “seize” or “pounce” on Republicans in headlines, but the paper makes sure to underline the partisanship when it’s Republicans supposedly seeking mere cynical political advantage.

Hulse’s favorite kind of story is Democrats putting the GOP on the defensive, but here he allows a little of the reverse, showing Republicans pressing an advantage on the topic. Yet the veteran reporter still allowed the Democrats to frame the debate, while taking the tone of that cynical, partisan headline.

When Senate Republicans sought recently to wall off some federal education aid from schools that decline to reopen once teachers can be vaccinated, a top Democrat accused them of staging a “political…

Whiny Politico On Repeat: Republicans ‘Pounced’ On Cuomo’s Nursing Home Scandal!

PA Pundits International

By P.J. Gladnick ~

Republicans pounce!

That phrase has become such a laughably familiar refrain that it has even made it into the Urban Dictionary which provides this accurate definition of the term:

Republicans pounce!

A headline in a newspaper or other article that describes Republicans (or other right-leaning individuals) attacking a Democrat (or other left-leaning individual) when that Democrat commits a misdeed. Always written by a reporter with left-wing political views, it will attempt to frame the Republicans as overzealous, and will either downplay, ignore, or excuse the Democrat’s misdeed. Commonly done by the New York Times or Washington Post, it is often viewed as a sign of the bias within the media.

The latest iteration of “Republicans pounce” comes to us from Politico which seems to never tire of the term despite risking being mocked for its incessant usage. Bill Mahoney went full pounce on Thursday in “Top Republicans…

New Yorker Compares Trump To Segregationist Democrat George Wallace

PA Pundits International

By P.J. Gladnick ~

Usually when the mainstream media tries to smear President Donald Trump by comparing him to George Wallace it is just done in passing such as when John King mentioned this or when Joy Reid threw it out there. However, Steve Coll writing in the New Yorker on Friday dedicated a full article to this dubious comparison in “Donald Trump, George Wallace, and the Influence of Losers.”

One thing all these comparisons have in common is not once do they mention that Wallace was a Democrat.

Trump’s charisma, such as it is, synthesizes the rudeness and the faux “authenticity” of recent reality television with the racialized and nativist rhetoric that dates from way back in our history. He has drawn inspiration from such disparate populist figures as Joseph McCarthy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jesse (the Body) Ventura, the professional wrestler who, in 1999, was elected governor of Minnesota.

The Hit-Job Parade Of Anti-Trump Authors

PA Pundits International

By Tim Graham ~

It must be fall campaign season, because our incredibly tilted Democrat media are rotating through a series of  authors ripping into President Trump. Start with the most overpraised journalist in Washington, Bob Woodward, who is almost as old as Joe Biden, but is still trotted out with great fanfare as the conquering hero of Watergate.

Everywhere he went, it seemed Woodward was asked to declare that Trump’s term in office has been “worse than Watergate.” Tony Dokoupil on CBS insisted no one died in Watergate, while Trump is somehow responsible for the vast majority of deaths from the coronavirus. On 60 Minutes, Woodward colorfully described the president as a lethal pile of dynamite.

No fact-checkers were requested.

In the same week, the networks also lavished attention on two discredited actors in the Trump scandals, former FBI investigator Peter Strzok, dismissed from the Mueller probe for flagrantly…

When Reporters Babble ‘Without Evidence’

PA Pundits International

By Tim Graham ~

One of the common tropes we see in everyday news coverage is the claim that something President Trump or his supporters say is “without evidence.” This is a stark factual claim. Sometimes, it’s starkly wrong.

The hashtag #DefundNPR started trending on September 1 after NPR tweeted this to 8.3 million followers: “President Trump declined to condemn the actions of the suspected 17-year-old shooter of 3 protesters against police brutality in Kenosha — claiming, without evidence, that it appeared the gunman was acting in self-defense.”

Video evidence clearly shows a man approaching Kyle Rittenhouse while he was on his back, holding a handgun. Rittenhouse shot him in the arm. You don’t have to justify everything Rittenhouse did to know there’s obvious evidence of acting in self-defense.

The actual article NPR’s Twitter account linked to made no such “without evidence” boast. Reporter Alana Wise more cautiously claimed “Graphic…

The Washington Post’s ‘Fact Checker,’ Not Pence, Deserves The 4 Lying ‘Pinocchios’

PA Pundits International

By Hans von Spakovsky~

Glenn Kessler, the so-called “fact checker” at The Washington Post, this week called out Vice President Mike Pence’s answer to an interview question about election fraud. But it’s Kessler, not Pence, who deserves four “Pinocchios” for many of the misleading claims he makes about it in his column.

Vice President Mike Pence, seen here at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine on July 27 in Miami, was unfairly branded by The Washington Post’s “fact checker” this week as lying about voter fraud. (Photo: Joe Raedle/Getty Images)

Pence said: “Make no mistake about it. The reality of voter fraud is undeniable. We’ve seen case after case around the country where there have been prosecutions.”

Kessler concentrates on a case in Indiana that the vice president—a former governor of that state—mentioned in passing, and the dispute is over the timing and exact details.

150+ Lefties Including Gloria Steinem, Margaret Atwood, Admit BLM Has Gone Too Far

PA Pundits International

By Gabriel Hays ~

BLM and cancel culture aren’t as universally lauded on the left as we’d been led to believe. Via a letter written in Harper’s Magazine, many famous lefty authors, journalists and thinkers are decrying their side’s reckless lurch to insanity that has occurred over the last few months in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

It turns out that people like Handmaid’s Tale author Margaret Atwood, J.K. Rowling, M.I.T. commie nut Noam Chomsky, liberal journalist Olivia Nuzzi from New York Magazine (yes, this reporter), and legendary progressive E.R.A. activist Gloria Steinem are pleading that the left not take things too far in their cultural revolution. Despite how amazing it would be to do so, we are going to stay away from saying a big fat, “We told you so.”

Harper’s Magazine published the letter on July 7 to which lefty celebs like Atwood…

NY Times HATE: Trump July 4th Speech: ‘Exploits Race…To Stoke Fear’ In Whites

PA Pundits International

By Clay Waters ~

The front page of the New York Times’ local edition Sunday took another bite out of Trump’s Independence Day weekend speeches in “As Virus Rages and Poll Numbers Slip, ‘American Carnage’ Redux.” (That’s a reference to Trump’s inaugural address, which remains notorious among the liberal press)

The text box underlined an imaginary racist angle to Trump’s speeches: “Stoking racial fears to pit a white voting base against nationwide calls for social justice.”

The story, by White House reporters Annie Karni (who wrote of Trump’s “dark and divisive” Mount Rushmore speech story for yesterday’s front page) and Maggie Haberman, led off like a hostile liberal editorial and continued that way.

President Trump used the spotlight of the Fourth of July weekend to sow division during a national crisis, denying his failings in containing the worsening coronavirus pandemic while delivering a harsh diatribe against…
