NY Times’ Stark Romney Reversal: From Racist Oddball To Defiant Hero

Sen. Mitt Romney was the sole Republican to vote to impeach Donald Trump, and the New York Times front page on Thursday demonstrated its strange new respect for the Utah Republican — the same candidate it spent 2012 vilifying for standing between Barack Obama and a second term — in Mark Leibovich’s “An Act of Defiance Against a Party He’d Personified.” A text box on the jump page cast Romney as making a brave stand: “Recognizing that breaking ranks may bring ‘unimaginable’ consequences.”

NewsBusters’ Tim Graham recently reminded us how Leibovich gleefully went along with Obama’s smear tactics against Romney in 2012.

Leibovich’s tone has become far more respectful after Romney cast the single Republican vote to impeach:

Senator Mitt Romney of Utah never became president, but he earned a new distinction on Wednesday: He will be remembered as the first senator in American…

‘Kiss Orange Emperor’s A**’: Trump Victory Speech LEVELS Hollywood Left

PA Pundits International

By Gabriel Hays ~

The left’s best efforts at removing President Trump ended with an impeachment acquittal on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and the man had an off-the-cuff victory speech about beating the “vicious” Dems on Thursday. How do you think lefties in Hollywood were holding up?

Lefty celebrities couldn’t stand it as the commander-in-chief called Dems’ efforts to remove him “bullshit” and thanked his “warriors” — his impeachment lawyers, and loyal GOP senators and congressmen — for sticking with him through the trial. Trump Derangement Syndrome casualties like Rosie O’Donnell and Bette Midler lost their minds over the trash talk from America’s “Orange Emperor.”

Speaking of Rosie, the washed-up comedian took Trump’s victory pretty hard. She spent all day tweeting about the president’s acquittal and went bonkers as networks broadcast his acquittal speech. She tweeted, “Kiss the naked orange emperors ass – NO NEWS PEOPLE BREAKING IN – HOW…

Impeachment Dies In Desperation

PA Pundits International

By Brent Bozell and Tim Graham ~

As the Trump impeachment effort inevitably burns out on the ash heap of history, Democrats are left to argue that if this president is left unchecked, if he’s not removed from office, he’ll “do it again.” He’ll pressure foreign governments to investigate the business dealings of the Bidens, which is a “threat to national security.”

National security equals no questioning of the Bidens. Democracy equals removing an elected president.

A typical outburst came from CNN’s appointed presidential historian Douglas Brinkley, who warned acquittal means “the country has a president who operates as an outlaw…..Acting in a demagogic way and acting in a dictatorial way, trying to smash the foreign policy establishment, diss our intelligence gatherers, operating in a whole new way of an imperial president that we couldn’t have imagined.”

All this rhetoric ignores the notion that the House impeachment itself proves he’s…

‘DEATH OF OUR DEMOCRACY’: Hollywood Tears Flow Over Murkowski Vote

PA Pundits International

By Gabriel Hays ~

Democracy’s dead. Yep, it finally happened — well, according to Hollywood leftists who are shedding Olympic-size pools worth of tears, over their impeachment hopes drying up.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski provided the latest heavy blow to Democrats’ impeachment pipe dream on Friday, with her office telling the media that she will be voting “No” to hearing from new witnesses in what’s already been an exhausting and unnecessary process. This followed Sen. Lamar Alexander’s earlier decision to vote “No” and it was all way too much for Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferers in Hollywood.

Disgraced comedian Kathy Griffin could not contain her emotion at the idea that Trump’s probably not getting removed from office. She blasted Sen. Alexander and John Bolton for not condemning the president, tweeting, “So, history will reflect that Lamar Alexander and John f*ing Bolton as the two frail, old, pathetic men who took the…

Politico Worries About The Inevitable: Trump Will Take ‘Victory Lap’ After Acquittal

PA Pundits International

By P.J. Gladnick ~

Politico is deeply concerned about impeachment. Not that it could drag on for weeks or even months. No, their worry is that the almost inevitable acquittal of President Donald Trump will lead him to taking a “victory lap.”

Politico’s White House reporter Nancy Cook wrote about that concern on January 27 inTrump plots a flashy series finale for impeachment. The subtitle spells out what seems to trouble her, “The president is itching to close out a bruising chapter of his presidency — with a victory lap to maximize the political value of his expected acquittal.”

Cook kicked off by painting a picture of the President “itching” to celebrate his acquittal:

President Donald Trump is already itching to broadcast the series finale of his impeachment.

In recent days, he and top White House aides have been considering how he should celebrate his presumed acquittal…

WashPost Impeachment Shock: Poll Finds Trump ‘In Better Shape’ Now

PA Pundits International

By Randy Hall ~

Most people across the country remember that during the 2016 presidential election, polls declared that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton would win the White House in a landslide. As you might expect, the folks who conducted those surveys have been trying to regain their standing ever since.

With that in mind, the Washington Post and ABC News began 2020 by releasing their first poll on how people view the upcoming national contest, and the survey indicates that President Trump “is in better shape than he was last fall” due to rising approval for his handling of the economy.

According to an article released by the Post on Monday and written by Polling Director Scott Clement and Chief Correspondent Dan Balz, the results “pose a challenge for Democratic presidential candidates who have criticized the President’s policies and focused their economic messaging on inequities between the richest Americans…

As Impeachment Fight Resumes, NY Times Praises ‘Heroic Icon’ Pelosi, Cries Sexism

PA Pundits International

By Clay Waters ~

Alisha Haridasani Gupta, who writes the New York Times’  feminist newsletter “In Her Words,” made Page Two of Tuesday’s edition with “Powering the Democratic Party.” She interviewed Times’ reporter Lisa Lerer about Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The piece is a truncated version of a month-old Q&A from Gupta’s newsletter (excerpts from original version below), suggesting its sole function is to welcome back Pelosi as the impeachment fight resumes.

Gupta opened with an approving anecdote of a politician attacking a journalist, an odd stance for a journalist .

….just as she was ending a session with the press, a reporter asked her if she decided to move ahead with the impeachment process (her second as a member of Congress, she was also a legislator when President Clinton was impeached) because she hated the president. She was not pleased.

She wagged her finger at the reporter…

The Media Help Erode Our Norms

PA Pundits International

By Brent Bozell and Tim Graham ~

When the Washington Post infamously posted the motto “Democracy Dies in Darkness” on its masthead after Donald Trump was elected, it was implicit — oh, sure, they’ll deny it — that Trump was the enemy of democracy, and of “light,” or transparency. So it was sadly poetic that after the House Democrats rammed through such an incredibly partisan impeachment vote – without a single Republican voting Aye – Washington Post reporters posted a photograph on Twitter celebrating with beers.

Post reporter Rachael Bade tweeted “Merry Impeachmas from the WaPo team! @PKCapitol [congressional reporter Paul Kane] is buying.” After it became controversial, Bade unpublished the tweet, claiming to be misunderstood.

With all their tweets and all their angry opinionated segments on CNN and MSNBC, these journalists cannot be misunderstood. This was a “Mission Accomplished” message. The Post and all their brethren in the Trump-hating…

NY Times Unhappy With Trump’s ‘Grievance-Laden Rant,’ Fails Fact Check

Another Wednesday story by Katie Rogers and Maggie Haberman didn’t win awards for objectivity either: “A Grievance-Laden Rant, for the Record, Written on White House Stationery.”

PA Pundits International

The New York Times was unhappy with Trump’s “6-Page Diatribe” Trump to Speaker Nancy Pelosi attacking her for the looming vote on his impeachment. A jump page to Wednesday’s lead story featured this text box: “A missive full of unproven charges that ignores the evidence.”

Another Wednesday story by Katie Rogers and Maggie Haberman didn’t win awards for objectivity either: “A Grievance-Laden Rant, for the Record, Written on White House Stationery.”

Fact-checker Linda Qiu also tackled what she called Trump’s “rambling and angry letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi.” But in her rush to correct him point by point, several attacks fizzled.

Trump: Congressman Adam Schiff cheated and lied all the way up to the present day, even going so far as to fraudulently make up, out of thin air, my conversation with President Zelensky of Ukraine and read this fantasy language to…

The Coup: Does America Have A Future?

It’s now official: Russia, Russia, Russia really was fake news from the start. There was no factual basis for the FBI to spy on Donald Trump’s campaign.

Stately McDaniel Manor

The ancient Chinese curse–“may you live in interesting times”–is a curse for the ages.  It is evergreen, and we surely live in interesting times.  One might profitably think the impeachment farce–the coup–begun even before Donald Trump took the oath of office a planned, even desperate, distraction.  However, its power to distract is weakening, as we learn, little by little, more of the truth.  Gropin’ Joe Biden said D/S/Cs believe in truth over fact, revealing the vacuity and infinitely flexible morality of such people.  But now, we find what truly scares them: when fact and truth are one in the same.  Michael Goodwin provides both at The New York Post:
